In Europe alone we use over 300 million inkjet cartridges and over 10 million printer toner cartridges every single year. It is estimated that only 15% of these end up recycled. That results in millions of tonnes of non-biodegradable plastic buried in landfill sites along with the surplus toner and ink they hold.
It takes over 3 litres of oil to manufacture a single toner cartridge and over 1000 years for it to decompose so the potential damage done to the environment on a global scale is immense. If a population of 60 million people recycled their printer cartridges for 1 year this would save an incredible 9 million litres of oil going into landfill! We all know that every industry creates its own waste but every industry must be responsible for recycling this waste.
